CoinJoin is a **privacy technique** where multiple people combine their bitcoin payments into a single transaction. An outside observer cannot easily tell which input belongs to which output. On Bitcoin, every transaction is public forever. If someone links your address to your identity (through KYC on an exchange, for example), they can see your entire transaction history.

  2. The wallet software combines them into one transaction
  3. Everyone receives the same amount of bitcoin back (minus fees)
